The 2022 Local Government Leadership Gender Gap report provides interesting detail on the community types and regions, and the percentage of women serving in the top appointed official role. The only region to reach gender parity in that top spot? Small communities in the Northeast. Small communities, overall nationwide, tend to see more women in the top appointed role.
